Students should investigate a series connection of two solar cells by measuring the open circuit voltage, U ges, and the short-circuit current, I ges. Higher voltages can be achieved by connecting solar cells in series. Additionally, the voltages at each solar cell, U 1 and U 2, will be measured. From this, and U ges, the relationship for solar cells connected in series can be derived: U ges = U 1 + U 2.
